On Monday, we had to go out of town for an overnight stay in a pretty nice town in southern Arkansas. The first time I really took a look at that town, I was impressed. I fell in love with it by the second stay overnight. That was a couple of years ago. Monday was probably the fourth or fifth time I had visited and stayed in a motel there but this time, I had my husband with me. Before, it was other relatives..my Mom and my niece. We had a good time every visit.

We were searching out breakfast since the only restaurant I really cared about was closed and for lease :( when we spotted a nifty little place in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas. It’s called The Pancake Shop. Now, that doesn’t sound all that different from a hundred others, does it? Actually, it might be. The local atmosphere is impressive in the establishment. There is an old town feel about it. The servers are all very attentive and extremely helpful. Norma was our server. I was not ignored or treated in any manner other than the nicest possible way.

Now, the food is great. I loved the omelet I had, a ham and cheese. The thing was filled with both and I could hardly eat it all. Anyone that knows me knows that this is an impressive thing. So, I just had to tell you about this wonderful breakfast restaurant. It does only serve breakfast and closes at 12:30pm so if you do want to see what they are all about, you have to hurry and get there for breakfast.

Their phone numbers are:

877-426-4887
501-624-5858

And the map page.

Happy Shopping!!!

Everyone has heard about Vegas but have you been there? I was there some years ago and it’s all that it looks like and much more. The Las Vegas hotels are not expensive. Lights are everywhere, blinking and dancing. Casinos on every corner practically. If you have a yen for gambling, this is the place for it. If you want shows, they have shows and celebrities of all kinds.

Are you looking for a good place to stay? Las Vegas hotels are abundant and beautiful. Prices are fantastic and the amenities are awesome. Take a trip to the Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip. On 60 acres of real estate, they have a tropical oasis, lagoon and exciting entertainment specials.

The standard is set at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, the AAA Four Diamond Award winning restaurants, original shows, The MGM Grand Garden Arena, MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris and so much more that you will not want to miss this, one of the Las Vegas hotels to visit and enjoy.

There are so many more to choose from, it would be difficult. These are just a couple of examples of the fine relaxation and entertainment opportunities. Try the Las Vegas hotels and see how much fun you can have.

I have been to Raleigh, North Carolina, during all seasons of the year. It is a beautiful city, well worth the effort to visit on a vacation. The place is so pretty, especially in the fall. The colors are awesome. Did I mention a FREE Raleigh Getaway? Thought so. The prize is incredible. Want just a taste? Of course, you get a night stay for two at the Courtyard by Marriott, a $25 gift certificate to a Bistro, a couple of tickets to a theater performance and several more. Hey, you have to go register. Don’t wait on me to tell you all of it.

Do you like Shakespeare? Then it is time you traveled to Raleigh during their Fall Getaway season for the NC Shakespeare Festival. Two of the writer’s plays are being shown during this event…The Crucible and The Comedy of Errors. If Shakespeare isn’t your cup of tea, how about Man of La Mancha? The museum exhibits include Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries, Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism and Mysteries of the Lost Colony. Opera, Theater productions, Little Theater and festivals are just a few of the attractions available to those who travel to Raleigh, North Carolina during their Fall Getaway season in October.

As you are aware, I am all about saving money. So, when you decide that going to France just has to happen, I can tell you that there are some savings in it for you. Now, if you love museums, and I do, then you can save lots of cash here because the national museums are always free to anyone under 18 years old. Not bad. Hey wait. They are also free to disabled folks and students with an ID. Great! Of course, in order to see the museums, don’t you have to have a place to stay? Right. You can find really cheap deals for Hotels in Paris if you simply look for them.

Now, there’s plenty of free entertainment in France. Concerts, music festivals, street festivals, bull fights and open-air festivals. Just a hop, step and jump from many of the Paris Hotels are a multitude of free and low fee attractions for the whole family and for those who are on honeymoons. Hey, women can usually get in free to the nightclubs as well. Really not bad.

And do not forget (and no way I could forget! It’s shopping after all.), think outlet stores!! Take a trip on over to places like Limoges, Romans and Troyes and find huge bargains! Visit the famous stores of your choice and buy for incredibly low prices. Travel on back to your Hôtel en Paris for more nightlife. No matter what you like, you can likely find it in France.

We live only about 200 miles from Branson, Mo. It is the new country music capital of the U.S. While Nashville may still have the Opry, Branson has a lot of the shows. While it wouldn’t take much for us to get to Branson, it certainly might take the rest of you a bit more. Then, the first thing to do is find good accomodations, like Branson golf home rentals. Did I say golf? Oh yeah. While that is not my cup of tea, for you golfers out there, Branson Missouri real estate places can show you the best place to golf a few rounds..Where? Thousand Hills Golf Resort, of course.

With a family or friends along, you might want to check out the cabins they offer. WOW! Nice is such a tame word. Depending on the cabin, they sleep up to 16 people! And they’re full of goodies like a screened in porch, internet service (high speed), cable tv, beautifully appointed kitchen, private bathrooms, king sized beds, a loft with a queen size bed. Access to shopping (huge for me), shows, restaurants and, of course, golf. Say, want to see what the cabins look like? Take a virtual tour before you decide. I think when you do that, it’s a no-brainer.

In the past, when I had to travel or wanted to travel, I did some planning but not that much. The result of that was that I usually missed things I really wanted to do or see. Now, I have to say that not all travel was for recreation, some was my job. But, regardless of the reason for it, traveling was part of my life for a number of years. Even if the traveling is for a vacation, how much travel planning do you actually do? Some folks make plans on top of plans using a travel guide and all sorts of websites. But those people are likely to be in the minority. Most folks pick the spot they want to go and…go.

These days, if you do not start to plan, say using a website that has a travel guide, you can end up spending far more than you had intended because you sort of left it up in the air. I can tell you for a fact that you will use more gas in your car if you do not plan your vacations and travels. The days of simply going where the spirit leads does not really work anymore. Oh, I’m sure you could still do that but what happens when you do? No place to stay, no seeing all the sites because you can’t get in…too many others there first or possibly no reservations to where you want to eat since you don’t believe in planning ahead.

So, my advice is to go to websites that have that travel guide to help you. The one I’m thinking about even has articles and blogs about traveling. It will give you a lot of information ahead of the travel dates. Give it a chance. you might actually have a better time, save some money and enjoy the whole thing with the family. I can’t think of a better way to destress than to have a stress free vacation at some really great theme park or vacation villa. You can make some awesome memories.

Traveling to the biggest attractions in the country can be a fun experience or a real hassle depending on the planning and the smarts of the parents. And seeing the attractions can be equally fun or not also depending on the planning. Now, I have been to Disney World with a child. It can be a pain sometimes. But it can work. So, here are some tips for having a good time at the theme parks of your choice:

Tip: Before you ever start, either call or get online and contact the attraction of your choice for their very best packages for families with children. You can sometimes order a video of attractions, brochures, park schedules and a map of those attractions when you sign up for your park package. If you did not receive the maps and/or the schedule, call and ask for them. If after all that, you have no maps or schedule, get them at the gate. Be sure to have a map and schedule. That way you can plan your entire day with attractions, food and games.

Tip: Usually, parking is going to be far, far away so you would use the tram service, if they have it. It is less aggravation in the long run, when you have little children with strollers, to rent the stroller inside the park. It is a minor expense. Fill a backpack with the needs of the small children instead of lugging your own stroller and stuff around. They have lockers inside the park at the gate and a few other places around the park. By the way, don’t leave stuff in the car for later. The last time I was at Disney World, it was WAY WAY too far to get back to during the day.

Tip: In the plan you make, include favorite rides and shows for each person. Also include favorite food choices. It would not be a problem if people want different things. Just share each person’s experience with them. Then, decide when you are leaving and keep to it. A day at an attraction is very tiring for the very young, the parents and older folks. If possible, plan for more than one day since there is simply too much to see and do for that short a time.

If I recall correctly, Disney, for instance, has a great discount on more than one day that might include more than just Disney World. Please check to see. Many attractions and parks have something like that if they are really big places. NOTE: This is not a sponsored ad for Disney, just some tips that you can use for any attraction.

Tip: Some parts of an amusement park are always more popular than the others. Plan that one at the times least busy like in the early mornings. You can ride the other rides like that too. Get the riding in at the times most likely to be less busy like when most people eat or when the shows or parades happen.

Tip: For Disney only. This is something I have only read about because it was a while back when I was at Disney World but they now have what’s called Fast Pass. The way this works is you take your pass into the park to the Fast Pass machine. Make certain that you have all the passes at once. It only allows you to sign up for one ride at a time. The machine will give you a ticket with a time for your ride. That way, you do not waste precious time in a line a half hour long like we had to do when we went.

Tip: Bring bottled water with you. When they’re empty, simply fill at a drinking fountain. Saves on cokes and sugary drinks that cost an arm and a leg. If you want to give the kids a pick-me-up drink, you can bring powered drink mixes to put into the water.

Tip: One more thing. All kids love getting the souvenirs but they are so expensive. Unless you are a millionaire or won the big lottery, suggest that the kids each get one fun thing instead of buying tons of stuff that you would have to carry everywhere. I know that your little girl promised to carry the bear all the way BUT that was before she spotted the “real” ride she wanted. You know that either you or your spouse will end up carrying that bear. In my experience, buying the souvenirs near the end of the day is the best way to go. Ah, but they want that hat! Okay, that one is wearable. LOL!

I hope that helps you in getting to and around a theme park. Not all work this way. Most do. I’ve been to a couple different Six Flags, Disney World and Knots Berry Farm for example.

Happy Shopping!!
