I am a Trekkie and not ashamed to admit it. For years, I have loved the original series, Next Generation and all of the movies. They are fantastic. I do have one problem with the last movie made…no one should kill off Data regardless of the story. BAH!
But the rest of the movies and series are great. With that in mind, I did come across a video song that covers the theme of the original series quite well. The only thing is that this is a bit different, just a little. Here is Star Trekkin’.
Were you impressed? LOL!

This is one I should put on my wish list for the family. Fat chance! Are you looking for a really good deal on an HDTV for Christmas? Or maybe you want one for yourself as a reward possibly? Let me tell you about this one place that has a lot of goodies on their site. And you really should check out their Great Deal Of The Day too.
Second Act has the HDTV for you. Doesn’t matter what you’re looking for either. I can run a few names past you. How about Sharp, Hitachi, JVC, Samsung? Are you familiar with those? Second Act has those and many more to choose from. And they have a Great Deal Of The Day each day that changes at 7am CST. The current great deal is running through tonight but will be gone by morning. So, if you are looking for a Samsung 56 inch HDTV, you had better hurry.

When I saw this place called Film Fresh, I was a bit skeptical about what they might have in films since it was obvious that they were advertising sometimes little known and independent films. Then I started to look around. Did you know that they have Capote available? That’s the film that stars Philip Seymour Hoffman in his Oscar winning role of Truman Capote. Great movie!
Really, that was the only one, right? No, found another one that I have not heard of called The Hoax starring Richard Gere, Alfred Molina and Stanley Tucci.
They have a lot of titles that are also international films, subtitles included. You would want one of those for that snuggly, sit on the couch together type nights.
All of the films are available by buying the DVD. Many can be purchased by downloading or they can be rented. They have a guarantees on those films too. All you have to do is become a member of Film Fresh and the whole list is yours to check out. Plus you get discounts on purchases too.

Steven Wright does this deadpan voice and look that always has them laughing. He has a goofy thing to say and he will certainly say it. The video is from a 1980s Comic Relief show that was aired on HBO. More than once I have cracked up because of this guy and his extremely slow and monotone delivery. Please take a moment to enjoy the comedy of Steven Wright.

These guys were on several shows in the 60s. I recall them being on Ed Sullivan and other variety shows. For a while, they were everywhere on the tube. I really liked their music. As always, my parents really did not like the songs or the sound because they grew up in the days of classical music, big band era and all those show tunes that meant so much to them. But my music was more from the 50s and 60s so I craved the faster songs like Do You Believe In Magic? by the Lovin’ Spoonful.

This group has been around a long time. I love the sound because it was so different in the 60s. After all, a guy didn’t sound like a girl, right? But Frankie Valli was not afraid to do the unusual. And it worked!! They showed up on the top twenty on our radio station rather often. Now, here are Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons singing Big Girls Don’t Cry from 1962.
As always, if you like what you see but you want more of these singers or others on here, please leave your requests in the comments box. Thank you!

I am not a fanatic football fan. Nevertheless, I do like to watch football from time to time. The problem that I had initially at home was that my husband has never been, even remotely, a sports fan. But when I showed him a game, he got into the action because he loves strategy games and football is nothing if not strategy in the pros. So now, when I watch football so does he. My favorite teams have been picked because of their helmets or their team colors. But, hey, I am female so I can pick any old way I want to.
When I was about 10 years old, watching pro football on television was born out of desperation, really. My Dad wanted to watch it and I could watch that or go do something else. What can I say? I was a bored kid. It was Sunday and Dad was not about to go riding in the car for the heck of it, which we seldom did. So, I got the football bug.
Having traveled around the country, I thought about it a lot whether I would actually go see a pro game or not. Even when I was is Cleveland, it crossed my mind to go see about Browns tickets but I usually went on because I had to do my job. Sigh. It could have been a very sweet deal but I also knew that it was possible that by the time I got back through Cleveland, the game would be over. Bad news there.

Fox News trying not to be left out of the business news has launched Fox Business Channel. This is a rival to CNBC. Fox Business will air in over 30 million homes which is a little less than a third of the television sets capable of watching CNBC news. With this addition to Fox, they are building a network system that is possibly going to outdo some of the larger channels someday.
EDIT NOTE: I think that sometimes this news outfit is jerky. If they run the news, they ought to keep it available. Their BAD.

My niece got a movie for her birthday that probably is old to most of you but definitely new to her. She has read most of the series by Madeleine L’Engle who sadly has died recently. This particular movie was charming and inventive. And it kept not only the niece but the adults glued to their seats too.
Dr. Jack Murry disappeared without a trace. His family has no clue to where he went…until one night, Mrs. Whatsit shows up to guide his children on a quest to find him. They meet some even stranger characters in Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which. The children, Meg and Charles Wallace, her 6 year old brother, and neighbor and classmate, Calvin, end up on a distant planet trying to find the famed astrophysicist, Dr. Murry.
It is exciting and thrilling, everything a fantasy movie should be. I suggest this for the whole family. Now I realize this one has been out for a long time. Maybe it’s time for a new generation to take a peek at it. Surely it will be worth it.

I can only tell you that for years, I have enjoyed both Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, separate and together. They are both star singers, both famous in their own right but when they get together, it truly is awesome. I love Islands In The Stream and have for years. It’s best sung with these two rather than others. Here are Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers singing Islands In The Stream.
