One thing that had plagued me for years was sensitive teeth. There were some products out there on the market but nothing that would really deal with my particular problem of sensitive teeth. In other words, I am certain it helped someone but not me. The dentist was no help. He had cleaned my teeth and that made them more sensitive than ever. Perhaps I simply went to an old fashioned dentist. The only way the teeth stopped being sensitive was to find something that would dull it for the time being.

Then I was given a sample of Biotene which is a toothpaste made especially for sensitive teeth and helps dry mouth as well. Actually, dry mouth brings on the sensitive teeth. I never knew that before. This is a one-of-a-kind toothpaste that will fight bacteria growth which is found in the infections in the mouth and gingivitis, which is a gum disease.

Applying the toothpaste to my mouth caused no problems whatsoever. The taste was bubblegum. Now, I am not a fan of the bubblegum taste and I think perhaps they could bring out the product with the minty version for those of us who want that “minty fresh” feeling. After several brushings with the sensitive toothpaste, the sensitivity does appear to be going down. Even a cold sore was reduced and not felt nearly as much. Dry mouth was not nearly the problem it has been in the past.

From sampling this product, I would say they have a winner for those who are interested in finally bringing down the sensitivity problem and getting rid of those nasty cold sores especially now that we are going into the winter season.

One of the things that is developing into a family tradition is the strangely wrapped gift. My husband is trying to turn into a master at the craft. I must say that he has really done us proud in that endeavor. At times, others have tried..oh, they have tried to beat the mastery of the gift wrapper, but alas they have failed.

Well, maybe they have and maybe they haven’t. One year, my sister and her husband set out to try and fool us about our presents. For some reason, they feel the need to give multiples and this year was no exception. There were riddles. We had to guess just to open the next one. Frankly, we were terrible at guessing what they had for us but it was such fun. No, I won’t tell you. Na na.

Then, there was the year that my husband wanted to make a spectacular entrance over at my Mom’s where we always celebrate the day. We had bought her one of those “high/low” outside thermometers. Trust me, she wanted one so much she could practically taste it but there were none available locally and had not been for many years. Hers was broken. She had to “suffer” with an old ratty one she did not like.

My husband wanted to disguise the present because my Mom is really good at guessing what’s in the box. So, he got a long, thin box about 6 ft. It was less than a foot wide and about 3-4 inches thick. He had packing peanuts in it. The present was seated in the middle. It was approximately a foot long and about 2 1/2 inches wide. Obviously, the box was WAAAAAAAAY too big for it. When he finished placing the present inside, he started to wrap it putting plain wrapping paper on it, then decorating it to look like a STOP LIGHT!!! It was awesome.

We have had many more such stunts in the past years. Can’t wait to see what everyone has to fool us this year. It’s so much fun.

Now, if you want your Christmas to be a bit brighter, why not think of a way to keep them guessing? Wrap the presents in a much different way than what you normally do. Use newspaper, for instance. That is an excellent wrapping paper and costs a whole lot less. Decorate it. You could make it look like a scrapbook. The wrapping paper can be as much fun as the present itself. Have some fun!! What I found was that wrapping used to be boring and drudgy. I hated to do it. I loved buying the presents but pay someone to wrap things. Now, my husband does it but it’s much more fun!!! We both figure out the wrapping. A blast.

Try it and see. If you can’t get the husband to do it, find a friend and have a wrapping party. You might find that you can wrap their present under their noses and they won’t know a thing. LOL!!! Your turn.

All I have been thinking about is replacing furniture tonight. It will eventually make me crazy because when I thought about replacing the bed, it reminded me of when we were first married. Actually, it was our anniversary today so it was a natural that I would think about it. Of course, I was not the svelte person I wanted to be on my wedding day, not by a long shot. Nope, I was really…not like that at all.

When I thought about our honeymoon, it did occur to me to pack some sexy lingerie but then I realized that it would be a total joke if I wore that. Eventually, I just went with what I always had on hand and that was pretty cool too. Not telling. Our honeymoon was a total success and it was amazing too. Now I simply think about when the garbage goes out. 12 years of marriage. *grin*

I was just thinking again….bad thing for me because then I think of things I want…or have to have. This time I was thinking that if we were going to replace the office stuff, I might want to get a new bedroom set too. Ah, now there is an idea that will grow. Our bed is at least 14 years old, for crying out loud.

So, then I had to figure out what kind of stuff I want. I do check with my husband but he just wants something that looks like a bed and a dresser. Humph. I decided to see about what those modern platform beds might do for our room. Not bad at all. I don’t know. Maybe we can just move and leave it all behind and start again. Think that will work? Probably not. Somebody is sure to get the cops out to write a ticket for littering.

I started out as a Brownie. I “flew up” into girl scouts as soon as I was able to do so. I think it was about 11 years old or so. At that time, we worked for merit badges and went on camping trips or went to camp in the summer time. I did all of those things.

Camp was fantastic and went for a week. We lived in cabins near a lake. Sometimes it was cool in the mornings but it was awesome during the day and the campfires at night were terrific. Most of the girls cried when it was the night before we went home. But the fun things were when we were making things. At my age, I was allowed to use knives to cut craft items with so it was great to have something that I would call a safety utility knife to use for a whole raft of things we did.

These days, it looks a lot like a retractable blade. In those days, it was more like one of those swiss army knives with a corkscrew, a can opener, a fork and several other things. I loved the thing and I have no idea whatsoever what happened to it in the years since then. Mom and Dad had a huge garage sale before they moved so it probably got sold. Too bad. It was a great little knife.

Every time I ever wanted a pet, I found myself looking at all the cute things in the pet store. You ever do that? The outrageous prices usually kept me from actually wanting to buy those but they were so CUTE!!! But, reality would set in and I walked away from those places. See, those are usually populated by puppy mills, those kennels and farms that breed indiscriminately without regard for the animals at all.

So, instead of going to places like that, I found that the best pets I have ever had would come from rescue leagues and pounds. Not all did, one came from a litter, the dog we have had for over 13 years. But she was the exception. I have had cats and dogs from both places and from other places like them. Thing is, unless you NEED to breed an animal for pureness, like with show animals, then a mixed breed is a great animal.

But my biggest problem in shopping for a pet is that it really is not ME doing the shopping. Have you ever noticed that it’s the pet that chooses you? You can go after all sorts of animals, but in the end, the pet chose you. Every time. They act cute or active. Their little tails go wagging so fast because you paid a micro minute of attention to them and you were impressed. Do not believe, for a moment, that YOU did the choosing. They had it figured out the second you showed your face.

But that’s the best part, isn’t it. I have been in the rescue leagues and pounds and watched some animals just did not feel the need to greet you. They stayed in place, lying down or otherwise occupied. But the one that chose you was making an animal fool of himself. Or in the case of a cat, all you needed there was what I like to call the “grand purr”. Then a walk around to show that the cat does not care…but really does. She was saying to herself “pick me, pick me, pick me!!” but looked as though she simply did not care what you did. So, you got the cat and they gave you the biggest purring that she was able to do.

So, my advice is to go to a rescue league, pound, local litter somewhere, not to the mall pet stores. Then just watch the one that wants to have your attention more than the others. That’s your baby!!!!

Happy Shopping!!!

Blogs start up all the time but only a few actually make it into the big time where everyone “knows your name”, yeah, just like Cheers. Now, a company, Future Steel Buildings, that builds steel buildings has broken into the blogging world with their designs of steel buildings that work just about anywhere you need a building on your property.

The blog, Future Steel Buildings, is going forward into the next generation of advertising. You see these buildings everywhere. At least I do. I live in a rural area of a mostly farm state. There are such buildings all over the place. This site has what you are looking for in a Future Steel Building. They have been in business for 25 years so they know what you are looking for no matter what the need.

Are you a farmer needing a small barn? Got it. Hunter? Yep, they have that too. Need a garage, workshop or carport? They have all of those plus so many more. Isn’t it time you checked Future Steel Buildings out for yourself instead of reading this? Yeah, I thought so.

Mineral Secrets Mineral MakeupThis website, Mineral Secrets Mineral Makeup, caught my attention because it says that most makeup is going to be a problem for your face at one point or another. Currently, the makeup on the market can be carcinogenic, has talc in it and is an irritant. Several things happen with the standard makeup that do not happen with this particular product. And the one thing that struck me as so true is that the department and discount stores are not going to tell you what happens to you when you wear their makeup for long periods of time. Why? Sometimes, it’s because the salesperson does not even know this themselves.

Having never seen this before, I was curious. It is called Mineral Secrets Mineral Makeup and was originally created to help those who suffered from sensitive skin. I can relate to this. Mineral Makeup does not irritate your skin. What it does do is conceal red spotty skin all day. It is free of perfumes, which themselves can be an allergen, has no oils or dyes.

Featuring makeup, kits, brushes, gloss and much more, these folks are serious about helping you have a healthier look and feel. This is a small company with 10 years experience and a whole lot of product to help. There is so much about this makeup that sounds good, it needs to be used often.

This place, too, is on the strip in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas. We took a little look at their place and it was fantastic. The website will be okay but the shop is better by far. Not to say that the website won’t be great, it is. It’s called The Savory Pantry and has a large number of jellies and preserves. We ate the apple butter at the restaurant next door and I can tell you that, although it is not my Grandmother’s homemade apple butter, it is pretty close to it!!

cinnamonapplepancakemix.jpg

Apple Pecan Preserves, Apple Cinnamon Syrup, Stonewall Kitchen Cinnamon Apple Pancake Mix, and for those who don’t like apples…Cranberry Chutney, Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce, Hot Pepper Jelly, Olive & Herb Bread Spread and so much more that I cannot put it all here on this post or I would be here all night long. It is awesome. I plan to get some of these before too much longer and, frankly, I have found a place to get Christmas presents too!!

Laptop Shopping

I can tell you that I have been shopping for a laptop for a while now. The only thing that keeps me from actually having one at this time is the lack of money for the one I want. It’s that simple. I have a laptop need that exceeds my pocketbook.

Now, I have looked at some pretty impressive machines. For instance, the Sony VAIO VGN-FZ140E/B is a beauty. I love the idea that it weighs in at a bit less than 6 lbs. For someone who has to carry it around a lot, this is heaven. Check out the chip on this baby. Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7100 with Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology. You know how laptops usually have a fairly small hard drive compared to a desktop? This one has a 200 gig hard drive. The screen on the monitor is a whopping 15.4 inches. Not bad!! Memory–2.0GB DDR2. You can play CDs and DVDs with this one too.

So, if you are looking for a laptop, at least check this site out and especially the Sony. This place has an awesome number of choices if you don’t want to try out the one laptop.
