Yes, I admit it. I watch Texas Holdem on television. Frankly, I love the strategy of the professional players. This is high stakes poker since many of the tournaments have over a million dollars as prize money. They start out with 2000 players and narrow it down to the last nine. Then they take it to a final table. The play is fantastic. I love it.
When you see these men and women dueling it out for the top prize, it gets exciting. And the thing is, they hold these tournaments in all sorts of casinos with all the glitz like all those las vegas hotels. I saw a tournament recently where the last man standing (yes, man since a woman has yet to get to the top prize. They have made it to the final table though.) won a cool 12 million. That’s a lot of chips!
I asked myself what would I do with 12 million dollars. Easy, give a lot to the ministries that feed the hungry, then buy a house and new car. Very necessary right now. Share with my extended family. Invest so that my dollar can work for me. And last but not least, have some fun. I think that would work nicely.

For 12 million dollars, I will not buy new car or house, I will setup a business that I would like to do, then some portion of it will go to charity and the rest will go into investment and hopefully in the years to come, 12 millions will become 20 millions.
That sounds like a very smart thing to do. With me, setting up a business might be what I would do if it was the right one. For example, despite what the problems might be, it would be great if my husband and I could set up an Aldi’s grocery store here in our area. It is very needed. But we cannot do this without that type of funding. So, we pray for someone to do that. But we would definitely get a car and a house because we need both. We would definitely give some to charity of one kind or another. And we would definitely share with our extended family. And yes, there would be investments too.
Thank you for your input on this subject.
I don’t know how you can watch it. I mean I love poker - would play the freeroll texas holdem tournaments any chance I get ( you never know I could be the 1st woman wsop winner
but man, it is so boring to watch. I know I should to improve my game, but its worse than cricket! Its on too late at night and if I haven’t got a stake in the game I’m not interested. What’s the appeal - do you play yourself.
Fays last blog post..What to do when you are losing at poker
My husband and I play on a free online site but not anywhere else. I just love to watch the strategy. I think some of it rubs off on me. Maybe not but my game is much better than it used to be. I’ve entered three tournaments online, was on the final table twice, won one table, third on the other. I love Texas holdem. Yes, I can see where it would be boring to most people. My sister says it’s a yawner to her too. *grin* I just like it.
