Welcome back!

I absolutely hate to admit it but I need clothes that are larger, a LOT larger. Yes, I am a large woman who needs clothes just like the next person. And it is so hard to find affordable, good looking clothes that do not cost an arm and a leg. What am I talking about? Well, you have heard of plus size clothing, right? The problem I have is that you cannot just go anywhere to get this. Sometimes, a discount store might carry some but it’s unlikely. Yes, they do have the lower sizes but not the larger ones. Some of us need more room, don’t ya know.

One of these days, I am just going to get into those sweats I wear and go find some really awesome clothes. Well, I could always lose some weight first, then go looking for clothes. Actually, that would probably be the better solution but I do love to window shop, hence the name…Window Shopper!! I love it!!!

Happy Shopping!

Before Katrina, I had gone to New Orleans to deliver a load for the military. I sort of got a tad lost and ended up in a part of town I KNOW I should not have been but I am so glad I did see it. All along the street were these amazing antebellum homes that were just awesome. They had these columns in front like the old southern homes had in all the movies. I drove down the tree-lined street, looking at probably 50 homes that seemed to be from the civil war period. Awesome!

It’s a bit harder to see those columns anymore but they still exist. You know what I’m talking about, right? Now if you build a home with that type of construction, you can have the same effect with fiberglass columns instead. It sure looks pretty but I would think it saves money and the effect is the same. The house we used to live in up north had the columns too. But they were starting to deteriorate because the wood was getting really old. If I were going to build a home for our family, I would love to have those columns. There’s something about that look that I just adore.

Last year, we got the news! My niece is going to have a beautiful new baby in April or May. Now, I have to admit that this bit of news was a surprise, to say the least. So, nobody was really ready to help with the necessities right away. You know, things like baby clothes and toys. How about bottles, booties, baby bed, blankets, all the big “B’s” for baby.

Then, of course, even before that and fairly soon after she got the news, she needed to find some really great, stylish maternity clothes. Or so I thought. See, when I was pregnant, I turned into a HOUSE! I could not see my feet for months. In my case, I needed maternity clothes as soon as possible late in the fourth month. Not so with my niece. For one thing, she started out reed thin so when she did start to show, it was a dainty sort of cute thing going on instead of what I had gone through. Sigh. But at least she and the baby are doing fine. And she has some really cute maternity clothes. Double sigh.

So, now we are awaiting the arrival of the newest member of our family. She is already beautiful. We saw the ultrasound pic!! How awesome! New life about to show up in the world. What a blessing.

See, I cannot actually afford a laptop but I really need one to do my work. It’s too hard and long to explain this so I will simply say that I have actually needed one for a while but that need has gotten rather acute lately. So, that “ChipIn” widget on the sidebar there is my shameless asking for funds to help me on my way to a nice, not necessarily new laptop. I am grateful to anyone who would be willing to help me along the way with my quest.

Looking for laptops has sort of been a hobby of mine in the last year. I have seen some totally dream machines that unless I win the lottery will not reside in my house anytime this century. The problem is that I really need to settle on what my best shot at a good, cheap machine. So, I figured I could do a directbuy online IF I can find that one, just right for me, computer with all of what I need on it. Doesn’t have to be a fantastic machine, just something that I can work on somewhere besides my desk. With my back hurting so much, I cannot stay in the upright position in front of my desktop computer. Sad but true. And so my quest continues.

Some years ago, when I was single, a friend and I took a trip that would end up in South Carolina where some friends of mine of many years were living. The family had actually been friends since about 1975 when I met them through a ministry I had gone to. It had been about 14 years since I had seen them because they moved to South Carolina when I still lived in Florida.

My friend and I decided to visit a couple of friends of hers in Tennessee first. We went near Nashville. I was pretty disappointed that I could not stop and see the Grand Ole Opry but we thought that the visit to the friends more important this time. After the stop there, we moved on into South Carolina. It was such a blessing to see them again. It has been so many years!

While we were there, we did some tourist stuff, of course. One of those little side trips was to Hilton Head Island. How beautiful that is!! Awesome. And you know, if I had not had a place to live in Missouri, at the time, I would very likely have wanted to seek out Hilton Head rentals to find a place to stay right there!! I could just see me living right on that little island, enjoying the wind and surf all day long!!

However, we did have to go back home in due time. I can tell you that I did not want to leave there. I missed my friends a lot and the scenery was beautiful. But we did head back. Remember my disappointment about the Grand Ole Opry? Yep, we stopped in Nashville, looked at the old Opry building, Ryman Auditorium and then traveled out to the new one. It happens to be at the Opryland theme park now. We stayed all day, got incredibly wet on a really fun ride and left for home the next day. I had a really great time.
