I Need A Vacation!

Welcome back!

Are you kidding? What am I going to vacation from? We live in a vacation spot. I work at home. My husband works at home. We have little stress except for bills, car repairs, the high price of gas, the high price of food and little income. What on earth could get us needing a vacation…especially if we have to PAY for it ourselves?? ACK!

Of course, we do have a place not that far away that has all sorts of attractions that we do not have right here. See, where we live, we have lakes for fishing, boating, enjoying. We have swimming pools galore for in the summer. We have lots and lots of woods for deer hunting, rabbit hunting, squirrel hunting and so on. Thing is, we do not like to do any of those things. So, our vacation would consist of other things like attractions of some type.

We do live less than 200 miles from Branson…you know, Missouri. Is there any other? They have a whole host of attractions that would be great to see like Shepherd of the Hills, all those shows and celebs that show up around there. I saw a Dolly Parton show there somewhere. Yes, I would love to go there but before I go calling the Branson real estate agents, I am going to do a lot of checking out the attractions because there are so many of them! Yes, I could use a vacation from all the bills. Sigh.

Those nasty words get uttered from time to time around us. You know what? I do exercise. I exercise my right to not have to do that. And diet is what I eat, not a life plan. But I have to admit that I do need to lose weight and to exercise. I am just resistant. But if I get any older and stay as “weighty” a proposition as I am now, ugh. Yes, there comes a time when even those of us who are dyed-in-the-wool resistors have to face facts. It’s either go up a size in clothes or do something to go downward. I should do that.

Then I hear this word thrown at me….”Orovo“. What the heck is that? Somebody mentioned it to me. I have no clue. Come to find out it’s a website with stuff like a weight loss product, muscle builder and acne product. Sort of an all around deal there. I know that I have to do something to get rid of an excess of weight. Exercise, muscle building wouldn’t hurt either. I could use a muscle or two. Right now, they look like they’re upside down! LOL! WOW! Too much information, right? Okay.

Normally, I do not have a lot of good things to say about Walmart. At one time, they were pretty good, great in fact, but that was before Sam Walton died. Since then, I truly believe that those in charge have forgotten what pleasing the customer really means, something Sam Walton believed in totally. However, once in a while, something really good comes from Walmart.

This particular product is actually a Sam’s Club product but it has made it’s way into the Supercenters. Actually, I was told about this product by my Mom and my sister, both singing the praises of it. If you like grilled burgers, you will love Black Angus Beef Patties! These things are huge, have loads of juices and taste like they dropped off the grill a few moments ago. It is a new product in the Sam’s Choice line. The box says Backyard Gourmet. Black Angus Beef patties come in 6 one third pound patties in several actual flavors. For instance, the one that I am reading right now is Swiss Cheese and Mushroom. They also have Vidalia Onions. I cannot remember the others but there are several.

I have to admit that the box is a tad hard to read on the back where the instructions and stats are but the burgers are so good that we put them in things too! Cooked up by themselves, they are so juicy and good. Break them up into a casserole or slow cooker meal and you have more zing! These burgers keep their taste right through it all. I recommend them to everyone!

I am old enough to remember some pretty hot cars when I was in high school in the 60s. One of the hottest was the Corvette. After all, we had the television show “Route 66″ to go by if we wanted to know just HOW hot they were. Martin Milner and George Maharis played two guys driving around the country in a beautiful Corvette each week. It starts with Tod Stiles (Milner) receiving a bequest from his father who had passed away. Tod got a Corvette, but no money. He and his friend, Buz Murdock (Maharis), decided to travel around the country getting odd jobs and adventures. Sometimes, no..all the time, they seem to bite off more than they could chew, at first.

The point is that they were driving one hot car! They attracted girls galore and strange guys. But in the end, the car was the star. Frankly, the cars aren’t quite as hot today, well, except for the newest Corvette and a few other muscle cars. I really loved the older muscle cars. They were so hot! Yes, I do keep saying that. The show ran from 1960-1964 during my high school years and I thought it had been cut off too early.

Now, of course, there is a fantastic looking Corvette too. I saw a picture of a 2009 Vette that was at a car show recently. It had a coppery color. And I was thinking, wouldn’t that look awesome with C6 Corvette wheels and a serious power plant under the hood. WOW! Okay, reality strikes and I know that the beautiful car I just saw is not going to reside in my driveway anytime soon, but hey, I can dream, can’t I?
