I love grab bags. Of course, I have gotten some real junk in them at times but there have been some really great stuff too. As you may already know, grab bags are those things that the stores cannot sell so they pack them up and put the bags out in a barrel or box for people to purchase. The price is usually pretty good. Most grab bags that I buy are about a dollar, sometimes two dollars. Yes, I know. Big spender.

But there was this one time that I was in a jewelry store. I wanted to find a nice ring but I got so interested in the gold watches that I just about forgot to look for the ring I wanted. Eventually, I saw the grab bags. Now, this was in a jewelry store. How bad could the items be? So, I bought one grab bag. I figured that if it was good, I wouldn’t have to buy another one. If not, I could buy a few more. Not bad. In fact, great. That way, I get some good costume jewelry, if nothing else.

I opened the bag at the store because the clerk suggested I do that. The bag was really light. It had a card in it. For once, I picked up a light one because it just seemed right instead since most people would likely think something great was in the heaviest ones. The card said I had just bought a GOLD WATCH. The watch was worth a WHOLE lot more than I paid. It was awesome!! Grab bags are fantastic!

It’s one thing to slam the veggies I like to eat. It’s another thing entirely to slam my fast food. Now they have a study out that says that fast food can cause liver damage. Well sure if you eat it 24/7 but who does that???? What the study said was that if you eat a burger, fries and coke and have no exercise at all, you will get liver damage if you eat that menu for thirty days. BAH!!!

For one thing, no one in their right minds actually would eat that much fast food. Or at least, I don’t think they would. Maybe I live in a dream world. When I was much younger, I would have eaten fast food most of the time so maybe they would do that. But after a while, ya gotta take a break from it. It gets really boring. At least with me, it was a variety of fast food. See, the study had people eating at the SAME fast food joint every time. Why??? Variety is the spice of life. You know, I do believe that except for people who are married. They do not need that much variety…except in eating fast foods, of course.

We are awaiting an ice storm right now. I do not think it would be wise to book a game of golf for tomorrow around here anyway. Maybe in a month or so. Then a person could probably get around a course. There are die hard players who, I know, have those glowing golf balls or the black ones you can find in the snow. I simply do not see why anyone would want to golf in the snow or the dark. Makes zero sense to me.

You know, when I was a teen, my Dad would go out early in the morning and play a round of golf before he went to work. Since he owned his own business, he could get in a bit late on golf days. The problem I saw was that there were rainy days, windy days, really dark days. But through all of that, he loved the game so he played as often as he could.

These days, they have the lit up golf balls so that you can play in the dark. I see no real use in that but then I do not golf. I did try it but I could not get a real love for the game. As with my Dad, I think that a person would have to have a big love of that game to want to tromp around in the mud, sand and wet places just to hit a smallish ball towards a hole that is not really visible from the tee where you start. Actually, I would be willing to bet that if my Dad was alive right now, he would love to have a game of Nike golf since he was happy with that particular brand. As I said, Dad loved to golf. I think he would eat and breathe it if he could have.

Do you have cats? If not, this probably won’t mean much to you. But we had two cats. Now there is one. Our other cat had a bad heart problem. Our boy kitty is left to be by himself, catwise, and I don’t think he likes it a bit. At this point in time, he argues about literally everything. He no longer likes his food, the treats, the way we yawn. He yowls about everything and tells on anyone doing something he does not like. Sigh. But do we get another cat? I am not sure that’s such a good idea either.

Why not? Okay, in the past, we got a cat from a rescue situation. She was a stray. The next one we got from a passel of cats, all of which were wanting someone’s attention, but he was special. For one thing, no one knew he was a he. They thought he was a she and therefore gave the cat a female name. Name change came as soon as we found out!! Poor guy. Of course, he had no idea.

Now, in that passel of cats, there were several but best known by Cat1a, Cat2b and so on. We finally came to CAT5e and that was the one we chose of all the other cats. We did not know if this one would be our best one but he looked promising. That cat is the one that is currently giving us such a fit because…well, because he has never been without a furry, purring counterpart before. We are still not certain it would be in our or his best interests to get another one so, for now, we will appease him in whatever way we can. It has just occurred to me that possibly his antics are a form of kitty blackmail to get what he wants. Hmmmm. Never thought of that!

Recently, news was released about statins causing memory loss. ACK!!! I take a statin to control my cholesterol. I do not believe I can afford to stop taking that particular drug. The main med in this study was Lipitor, mainly because it has the highest number of sales in this country. But I take Zocor and that was on the list too.

Are we now going to have to decide between the cholesterol problems and memory loss? Not sure I can handle that one. This is a real problem for many people. And yet, that particular side effect wasn’t really mentioned in the information that comes with the med.

I do not know about you but I can see a real problem here. And I do NOT want to forget about it!!!

One of the things I love about the internet is that you can shop and find the best places to purchase those things that normally you do not have the bucks for if you shop at the local stores. That’s what I love about why buy.com rocks. It rocks because they have thousands and thousands of products that have slashed prices. You can save so much money going right to buy.com.

They have amazing prices plus FREE SHIPPING offers. I like their price comparison search engine that shows you the competitor’s prices along side buy.com prices. Their prices win, hands down. And how about the coupon for new customers…All brand new customers receive an exclusive $10 off of their $10 order coupon which is valid on any purchase. Add that to the huge selection of products, the free shipping offers, the price comparison engine plus much more and you already know why buy.com rocks, don’t you.

Now if that is not enough for you, Howie Mandel will give you the “What’s Shakin’” feature and Ryan Seacrest will show you the Deal Of The Week! Awesome. For just a bit more about why buy.com rocks, I have prepared you a small video. Enjoy!

The one reason I want to recommend this site is because I have shopped there myself. I bought several tees for my husband who is a big guy so I had to find shirts that would fit him. This site has the t-shirts to fit little people and big people too! The Christian Tees site is called Christianwear.net.

It’s sometimes hard to find good t-shirts at a reasonable price. These folks have the right prices and nice looking tees to boot. Hey, did I mention FREE SHIPPING on all orders?!!!! If you are looking for the shirts that will give a message of Christian values, this is the place to go.

In addition to all that, they have a button on site that will give you fund raising capabilities as well. If your church or organization wants to have a fund raiser, why not give this place a try. Believe me, they do deliver. I got my order very quickly just as I ordered it.

I know that some of you have not gotten your Valentine anything yet. There is still hope for you! Do not despair. The Valentine’s stuff is still there at the stores. Do not go home without it!!! Of course, the best things to get are the roses, the chocolates and the teddy bears for the wives and girlfriends. Hey, the guys love chocolate too. Ask me how I know. You might need a bit of imagination to get just that special thing for the guys……a beautifully prepared meal and candlelight would work.

For now, just get out there and get that special person something that shows that you care. Get a mushy card. Make that call. Tell them you love them. This is their day!!!

You go to the mailbox, get out the bills including the credit card bill that you always pay on time. The envelope is opened up and you get the shock of your life. Your credit card has an interest rate hike that you knew nothing about AND…..it was retroactive back a few months. Now, the payment you thought would be enough to bring it down is going to go for the interest payment alone. You are now wondering how you will ever pay what you owe them.

Does this sound familiar? Likely, if you have not already seen it, it will be visiting your next bill or the one after that. Banks and credit card companies are raking in the money by changing the interest rate on your credit card and they do not even have to tell you about it before they do it.

Is this fair? Absolutely not!!! Is it legal? Unfortunately, yes. They can pretty much do what they want to since you signed the agreement that says they can raise the interest rate without prior knowledge or for any reason. You can be the best customer they have and they will still raise the rates because they want to regain the money lost from others who do not pay their bills.

Banks are trying to regain the money they are losing in the foreclosure mess they brought on themselves. I admit that people should have seen the problem with a balloon payment. But now, there are thousands and thousands of consumers who, at a time of the year when it’s the hardest to make ends meet, having to deal with the greed that comes from banks and credit card companies. And GREED it is, pure and simple.

So, my recommendation is to get rid of the credit cards. Yes, Virginia, there is life without credit cards. Those of us who could not get credit cards before are now very thankful we do not have them. If you spend beyond your means, you will end up regretting it sooner or later. Seems like later is here.

I do think it is a bad idea to continue to have credit cards. Things can only get worse. I know that you can find a new card company that will give you amazing rates….for a few months. When that happens, watch out for the string attached. They may not even tell you it’s there but it certainly is there.

For those already in the situation, there is hope. Contact the company and tell them that you have this problem, the payments are too high, the rate is too high and you will not be able to pay it unless there is a change. If you have the right person on the phone, I suggest a supervisor at least, the rate will drop and you will be back in business. Once the card is paid up, get rid of it!!!! Frankly, I consider this a scam from the credit card companies and the banks. This may seem to be good business but in the end it will be a real problem for them…as well as you.

For years, I traveled from state to state, working at my driving job. You would think that I would get tired of doing that day after day. I did not. It was great. I thought then that I was born to drive and I believe that I was. I love to drive. Of course, it was a pretty long trip most of the time.

I had some problems, of course. Strange drivers out there that thought I was in their way, people who would cut me off. What were they thinking???? For one thing, a truck cannot stop on a dime. For another, I might not even have seen them. That guy did not have kids in the car but I have seen ones that did doing some really dangerous stunts. It was enough for me to check and make sure I had some really great travel health insurance, I want you to know. These people were nuts!!

For instance, I was traveling north around Columbus, Ohio, one morning…in rush hour traffic. This guy comes up from behind, gives me the universal salute, gets ahead of me and slams on his brakes. It was all I could do to not run him over. For some time after that, he did the same thing over and over again. By the time he decided his little game was getting boring for him and he left, my brakes were almost red hot and soon to become useless. And there wasn’t a cop in sight. Naturally.

It was great doing the job I did because almost all goods going to stores are taken there by truck. I had a good job…except for jerks like that one was. Here’s a little thing to think about. Take the time to think about what might NOT get there by truck. The list will be extremely short. In fact, I cannot think of a single thing that does not, in some way, move by truck including those things like oil and gas. Can you think of anything? Right.
