This is, without a doubt, a problem area for me. Trying to find the best supplies like flea treatments and specialty items for our dog and cats. For instance, our dog has this extreme allergy to fleas, at least that’s what the vet thinks. It started with a “hot spot” or two and has progressed to our dog being literally bald. She has some small, growing hair at the moment.

The real problem area is that with her allergy and what goes with it, she sometimes really smells like a locker room. That comes from her constant itching which, in turn, brings on sores that end up being dried and crusty if we do not watch for that and treat it. The vet charges outrageous prices for a one week fix that wears off in about three. We needed to find something that would take care of it for a cheaper amount but would give her some real relief. We found that in a spray that contains clove oil and healing properties.

Then, we have a couple of cats who are very active but do not go outside. Now that sounds great because then they don’t get fleas. Well, it used to be that way. Now, especially when the dog goes out, she brings them back in with her since the next door people almost never cut their grass. Our dog is very typical in that she ends up trying to get into their yard. She doesn’t get there but it brings out the fleas anyway.

So, buying flea stuff is a trial and error thing. I cannot pay the large prices that the vet wants for the latest and greatest (or so they say..I found that the leading flea treatment only lasts now for about 3 weeks) so I try to find equally effective treatments for a lot less. I get those and the other supplies I need online at a pet supply place. Now, I have tried a couple but I have had success with one or two.

If you are looking for online pet supply places, really do your research first. Find out what the hidden costs, if any, might be. Then, see what the shipping costs will be. I used a supplier that would give me free shipping via UPS as long as I bought over $50 at a time. So, I made a list and bought for 6 months instead of buying every two or three months. I saved a lot on shipping fees. It’s been great.

I started out as a Brownie. I “flew up” into girl scouts as soon as I was able to do so. I think it was about 11 years old or so. At that time, we worked for merit badges and went on camping trips or went to camp in the summer time. I did all of those things.

Camp was fantastic and went for a week. We lived in cabins near a lake. Sometimes it was cool in the mornings but it was awesome during the day and the campfires at night were terrific. Most of the girls cried when it was the night before we went home. But the fun things were when we were making things. At my age, I was allowed to use knives to cut craft items with so it was great to have something that I would call a safety utility knife to use for a whole raft of things we did.

These days, it looks a lot like a retractable blade. In those days, it was more like one of those swiss army knives with a corkscrew, a can opener, a fork and several other things. I loved the thing and I have no idea whatsoever what happened to it in the years since then. Mom and Dad had a huge garage sale before they moved so it probably got sold. Too bad. It was a great little knife.

I am not a fanatic football fan. Nevertheless, I do like to watch football from time to time. The problem that I had initially at home was that my husband has never been, even remotely, a sports fan. But when I showed him a game, he got into the action because he loves strategy games and football is nothing if not strategy in the pros. So now, when I watch football so does he. My favorite teams have been picked because of their helmets or their team colors. But, hey, I am female so I can pick any old way I want to.

When I was about 10 years old, watching pro football on television was born out of desperation, really. My Dad wanted to watch it and I could watch that or go do something else. What can I say? I was a bored kid. It was Sunday and Dad was not about to go riding in the car for the heck of it, which we seldom did. So, I got the football bug.

Having traveled around the country, I thought about it a lot whether I would actually go see a pro game or not. Even when I was is Cleveland, it crossed my mind to go see about Browns tickets but I usually went on because I had to do my job. Sigh. It could have been a very sweet deal but I also knew that it was possible that by the time I got back through Cleveland, the game would be over. Bad news there.

Once again, it’s bad news at the pumps probably because the all powerful “theys” are at it again. There was an announcement that it was possible that a barrel of crude could conceivably go to over $100 and watch the pump prices rise.

According to the lastest statistics, the national price at the pump rose 5 cents a gallon. The average price all over the country was $2.80 a gallon as of Friday. The highest gas price was a hot $3.17 in San Francisco and the lowest was $2.56 in Newark, N.J.

Travel has been part of my life for many years. It’s only been in the last 13 years that I have not done much traveling. But mine was around the U.S., Canada and Mexico. I have wanted to go to other countries as well but there never seemed to be a way to do that. London would be one of those places I would like to see. Of course, I would need to check out London accommodation near the attractions, right? One of the most interesting sights would have to be the Tower Of London. Someday I will get to see that.

I don’t know how long I would like to stay. Believe me, I would take a much longer trip than usual for this type of traveling. And I would probably want to stay in one of those great London apartments rather than spend a whole lot more in a day to day hotel. Possibly there would be some type of cheap hotels that could be less expensive so that I could go sightseeing and get to see the Royal Mews or possibly Buckingham Palace. That would be awesome.

First, I want you to know that I love to remember lines from movies. I had to say that to show you this one thing I found online that has to be one of the stupidest things to get anyone. Yet, I have this fascination with buying it for someone in our family. I wish my Dad could see this because he would have wanted one right away. One what?..You ask? It’s a hat. Yes, a hat. But not just any hat. This is the stupidest hat I have ever seen. And I’ve seen a few, believe me. Dad used to love goofy hats so I got him the one with two bills that said “Old F**t” on it. LOL! He loved that hat and wore it to Walmart.

Know what I would say to this hat? “I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF THESE!” (Independence Day..Will Smith’s character)

This can be found at Stupid.com for those of you who simply need a stupid idea for Christmas. Argh.

Happy Shopping!!!

When I first saw this program, I thought it would be complicated. Frankly, I am challenged when it comes to computers and programs so I simply figured that it wasn’t for me. But, someone asked me to try it anyway. With a great deal of trepidation, I got the program and started to run it. WOW! How easy can it actually get??!!!!

jaz2kitten.gif

First, once the program called Morpheus Photo-Morpher is in you have a place for two pictures. You find a picture on your computer and upload it. Then do that again. Once you have two pictures, the first will morph into the second after you finish with what it wants. Ever play connect the dots? That’s about all you have to do. Put dots on the item(s) in the first picture. Then do the same in the second picture. Match the dots on each one. Like if you had a person’s face, put the dots on strategic places like face, ears, eyebrows, etc. Then in the second picture, match those to whatever area you want it to morph to. Simple.

When you finish that, you will want to decide how many frames the pictures will go. The slower you want it, the more frames. You can find that on the drop downs at the top of the page. After that, it needs to be rendered. That’s on the file menu. It’s saved. Now you have a real morphing picture. You can get as creative as you like. Any two pictures will work. I dunno how good a cat and a house would look but, hey, try it and see!

By the way, this whole thing came from Zoombli.

duck-pile.jpg

Wordless Wednesday on Wednesday
(not my picture..found it)

Despite the fact that this is a WORDLESS Wednesday picture, someone feels the need to have me talk on this post. So, I will discuss the picture though I do not feel I need to do so. The picture is of several ducks who are all in a line. At the time I found it, the picture looked to me like it was a line of rope with a duck at the end. Sounds like a joke, right? Thought so too. So, I enlarged the picture so that it would appear to have a better shot at people recognizing what is actually depicted. I still had some people tell me that the picture did not necessarily look like a duck family. And it doesn’t unless you look really close at it.

I hope that this paragraph satisfies those who must have me discuss this post at length on a WORDLESS post. Thanks for understanding. Sigh.
