Welcome back!
Several years ago, I was living in an extremely small apartment. So small that I could turn around and be in the kitchen or the living room, depending on which way I stepped. It was a one room efficiency that cost me very little since I was almost never there. This took place not long after I had moved in.
In fact, I had moved in that day. It wasn’t hard to do. I had very few things and I was happy about that. Not much to care for that way. So, I was taking inventory of what I needed to buy at the store when I heard this weird sound right outside the door. Hey, I’m not that brave! I did peek out, lifting the Blinds but there didn’t seem to be anything there. At that time, the word “stalker” didn’t come up as often as it does now so that didn’t enter into my head but other things did. Sigh.
Well, I got my groceries and got home at a reasonable hour because I had to work the next day driving a cab. In those days, I had to get up by 5am to get to work by 6. When you work for a cab company, you always have a ride to work! (I hated that some days). Did my twelve hour shift and went home. Not long before bed, I heard that noise again. It was getting spookier by the minute. But nothing happened. Sigh. I went to bed.
The next morning as I was getting ready for work, it had to be around 5:30am, a huge thump came to the door. It was BIG, I tell you. Scared the….well, you know. It scared me. But I had to KNOW what it was. I opened the door and screamed. Then, I took a really GOOD look at what was staring me in the face. I mean at eye level, there was this cat, hanging on the screen door. “Meow! Meow!” “Okay, kitty. Come on in.” said the sucker. Yep, she was a pregnant cat that needed food and a place to have ‘em. Did too. My bed. I did persuade her to take the dresser drawer in a trade. We enjoyed her kittens for a few weeks. I gave them and her away to wonderful families who wanted kitties. I was happy again.
