While there was a time when we had a great expectation of these announcements, none of us in the extended family is ready for this type at the moment. What kind, you say? Birth announcements. But, my sister did have a birthday recently so that announcement did happen. My daughter called her on Saturday to wish her a happy birthday. We were over there to have a party. It was all pretty nice.
But, it brought back memories of other times. It was very rewarding to send out birth announcements in those days. Our child was about to show up. I was about to scream and give this job to someone else!! She was late by a week or so. It was the endless waiting that I could not stand. And then the day came. She was so beautiful that it no longer mattered that it hurt, no longer mattered that it took so long for her to show up. What mattered was that she was healthy and in the world.
