Welcome back!

I was in high school when Herman’s Hermits showed up in the U.S. I loved the group. The first thing that I heard of theirs was “I’m Henry the 8th I Am”. I tried to get that but there isn’t a really good video of that. Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits have still been singing though I haven’t heard about them in literally years. You do remember all the girls screaming, right? Well, you can hear it here with Mrs. Brown in 1965 on the Ed Sullivan Show:

>

I am looking for some of the groups of the fifties and sixties. Sometimes, it’s sort of hard to remember that far back. If you have an idea of a group or just love some group, please let me know.

When I was growing up, I believed that garages were for “the stuff” not cars. Know why? Because every garage we had was stuffed to the gills with…well, stuff. Back when I was still going to grade school, my parents owned a duplex. We lived downstairs and the renters were upstairs. You could tell when they moved in. The renters wanted to use the garage for a CAR!!!!! How strange. Worse, the father of the kids that came with the people upstairs wanted to use the garage for tool storage as well as the car.

It wasn’t possible, was it? Do people actually do that? Well, since then I found out that most folks do use the garage for cars and other storage things. Why we couldn’t do that, I will never know. My Mom still has a two car garage chock full of stuff but the car sits out in the carport. Go figure.

Once in a great while, I can find that perfect item for the guy who has literally everything. I doubt he has this. Or possibly a gal that really likes the office politics so much. Trust me, this is the one thing that people do not have. What am I going on about? A USB Missile Launcher: Military Style. Are they serious? Yep.

This website has more. If you are looking for the truly strange, I think you will need to look no further. An electronic piggy bank? Slot machine paperweight? Smencils????? Okay, that one had me rolling and laughing. But they have it nevertheless. You going to take a look or what?

NOTE: This is NOT a paid post. I just liked the site and some of the things are really funny.

Times like this are not going to come back once they go away. It is totally a buyers market when it comes to housing. Prices on houses are going down, down, down. So, it would seem to be a great time to buy one, right? Not so fast. Prices all over the country are still falling. If you jump in with both feet now, you may find that you have a house worth less than when you bought it. OUCH! Especially if this is your first home, not good. And getting the financing is going to be harder right now too. If you were counting on that great loan, uh maybe not. Lenders are much more strict about things right now. Sounds nuts, right? Buyers all over the place. Start lending. But they have already been bit by the falling rates bug.

For those who are wanting to refinance, things aren’t so good either. When you got that loan it was one of those teaser rate loans. Now, if you want to refinance, it will cost you more. Fees, fees and fees. And getting that refinance loan will be much tougher for you too. Difficult deal all around.

I don’t know. Maybe it’s time to stay put, try to work it out on the current loan, get a few breaks and wait it out. That is NOT advice from someone who knows anything about this.

As you are aware, I am all about saving money. So, when you decide that going to France just has to happen, I can tell you that there are some savings in it for you. Now, if you love museums, and I do, then you can save lots of cash here because the national museums are always free to anyone under 18 years old. Not bad. Hey wait. They are also free to disabled folks and students with an ID. Great! Of course, in order to see the museums, don’t you have to have a place to stay? Right. You can find really cheap deals for Hotels in Paris if you simply look for them.

Now, there’s plenty of free entertainment in France. Concerts, music festivals, street festivals, bull fights and open-air festivals. Just a hop, step and jump from many of the Paris Hotels are a multitude of free and low fee attractions for the whole family and for those who are on honeymoons. Hey, women can usually get in free to the nightclubs as well. Really not bad.

And do not forget (and no way I could forget! It’s shopping after all.), think outlet stores!! Take a trip on over to places like Limoges, Romans and Troyes and find huge bargains! Visit the famous stores of your choice and buy for incredibly low prices. Travel on back to your Hôtel en Paris for more nightlife. No matter what you like, you can likely find it in France.

The fall season is upon us and the movies coming out are heavy hitters this year. What surprises me are the westerns that are making a big comeback. I haven’t seen more than a handful of westerns since I was a kid. You will see some of the fav actors in the fall schedule. Looking for Denzel Washington? Russell Crowe? Ben Stiller and other very recognisable names. I actually wait for the movies to come out on DVD but that’s just me. It’s still a great way to have a date.

These are the movies looking for the Oscar bids. Time will tell. I will simply wait for the DVD again. :)

Recently, today in fact, I just exercised my ability to edit my blog as I see fit. I want readers to take note of this. When I receive lots of comments on one blog using the same url and that url happens to be a commercial url selling stuff, I am going to see it as Comment Spam and delete all the comments from the person involved. This is part of my policy from this date on. If I did not cover this before, I am now.

I will not allow my blog to be a place for someone to come in an try to get sales by putting in a large number of links. I really do not mind a couple. Everyone is looking for linkylove. I don’t mind if you have something to say on several entries as long as the comments have some meaning to them. But when someone comes in to comment and leaves a two and three word comment with their commercial url, then it looks like comment spam to me. All of the comments from that person are now deleted off of both the blogs that have comments from this person. You know who you are.

As stated, I love puppies. Well, I love them but I don’t love to potty train them! On the other hand, there are good things that outweigh the bad..the aforementioned potty training. First, they are so cute. Second, when they grow up, you can have a watchdog. Uh, you can if they are that type of doggie. So, where do I get such a beautiful puppy for myself?

At Salt Creek Kennel, you can find the one you want if you are looking for English bulldog puppies for sale . They’re cuddly. I saw an absolutely adorable Yorkie puppy too. This place is USDA certified kennel. That means they take care of the puppies they sell. Seems they raise them at home. Now that’s a great deal because puppies raised that way are going to be more friendly (socialized) and healthier. Salt Creek Kennel is near Tulsa, Oklahoma.

So, if you are looking for that wonderful English bulldog puppy or a yorkie baby, you are heading to the right place. Because they are committed to customer satisfaction these folks are going to want to keep in touch with you. If they do not have what you are looking for right now, be sure to stay in contact with them for later.

I have a new category for my blog. The For The Boomers category is because I am a boomer and I have loved the songs that this group and many others did in the sixties and seventies. It was a time when I had just graduated from high school and listened to every top twenty song on the list. In fact, I knew the top twenty for my local station. I bought the 45s and went to sleep every night to the songs and sounds of the sixties. I would never have believed it but Youtube is a great thing if you can find all or most of the oldies that you grew up with. Here is the Kingston Trio on the Andy Williams show in 1966:

I thought about it a long time before I decided to do this. If you have one you want to see on my blog, please let me know.

To tell you the truth, this one really did surprise me although it shouldn’t have. I read an article recently concerning where there might be jobs. Have you ever been to or contemplated going to Montana? I have been there when I was traveling a number of years ago. It certainly is a vast place where you can see the sky. It isn’t called Big Sky Country for nothing.

Now, the news is that there are lots of jobs in Montana. In fact, there are some companies begging for people to fill those jobs. How about this. Have you ever heard of a McDonald’s that would pay $10 an hour? HA! They will in Helena. The job rate has sunk to a low of 2 percent in parts of Montana and almost as low in the neighboring states. Is that even possible? Apparently. So, what’s the cause? An aging work force for one. Booming tourism for another.

Actually, there are eight states involved here. They all have extremely low unemployment rates. If you are really looking to find a good job, that is going to be the biggest place in the country to try. Boomers are part of the good thing and the problem. They are moving in to have mountain views. These folks bring in the money and want to build new houses. Contruction is up.

There is one other problem there. Employers have been traditionally low paying. Now they have to put up or not have workers. It’s sort of a catch 22. On the other hand, if employers will raise the wages, it can be fantastic for everyone wanting work and for the companies that will have a workforce. The employers ARE raising the wages to the point that their wages are the third fastest rising in the country. Now there’s a good deal. Time to get that job!
