Recently, today in fact, I just exercised my ability to edit my blog as I see fit. I want readers to take note of this. When I receive lots of comments on one blog using the same url and that url happens to be a commercial url selling stuff, I am going to see it as Comment Spam and delete all the comments from the person involved. This is part of my policy from this date on. If I did not cover this before, I am now.
I will not allow my blog to be a place for someone to come in an try to get sales by putting in a large number of links. I really do not mind a couple. Everyone is looking for linkylove. I don’t mind if you have something to say on several entries as long as the comments have some meaning to them. But when someone comes in to comment and leaves a two and three word comment with their commercial url, then it looks like comment spam to me. All of the comments from that person are now deleted off of both the blogs that have comments from this person. You know who you are.

That’s been happening to me a lot in the last few months too. But yes, yesterday two of my blogs got hit by the same person leaving links for two different companies ( a myspace adder company and a whiter brighter teeth company) and they left about 16 really lame comments on the two blogs.
You know what I did?
I wrote to both companies to tell them that whatever company they hired to leave comments for backlinks was doing them a disservice as I’d deleted the links that had been left. I gave each company examples of what had been left on my site.
I also emailed the comment spammer and asked them what the heck they were doing and told them that they’d be out of a job soon as there’s a lot of angry bloggers out here and if we all write to the companies to tell them how much we hate the lame comment spam maybe it will stop.
Bravo! You did what we all should do. That was the exact same person or company that did it to me as well. It was a single email address too. I’m glad you did all that. I have deleted the things I got so the email addy and company place were gone too. BUT, the company had the link text as Teeth Whitener.
