This is another post on saving money on eBay.
I have to tell you that I am an impatient person so I do not like the idea of somebody coming along at the last minute (like I sometimes do….*blush*) and snatching away something that I have waited for with a bid on it for days….only to have somebody else get the winning bid because I did not watch it at the last minute or didn’t put a higher bid on it.
So, I go to the newly listed things and click on the Buy It Now link at the top of the search. That brings up only buy it nows. Sometimes, sellers are as impatient as I am and want the stuff sold fast. So, they put it up that way. You can find some totally great bargains that way. That’s how I found my computer….both times.
Sometimes, you will not win the thing because somebody has “sniped” it at the last second. There is not much you can do about that except make sure you have the highest bid you are willing to spend on the auction. Do not wait until that last second to put it in either. The snipers will take it before you can load the page. I have been down to no more than 5 seconds on an auction having led the way for days and lost the auction to a sniper. Sniping is a program that some eBayers use to get ahold of auctions they particularly want and usually get at the last moment.
Tip: Do NOT get into a bidding war. When you do that, the price goes UP, UP, UP. Great for the seller, not so hot for you or the other bidder. Newbies are bad about this and will bid until they win, quite often when the price is way higher than you could buy it new somewhere else. They just want the win! Ask me how I know.
Tip: Look for those sellers that want Paypal. Then pay as soon as possible after the end of the auction. I have a reputation of paying really fast because I can’t stand to wait too long on getting the item so I pay as soon as the auction is over or as soon as I SEE the auction is over.
